Regardless of how well-planned and informative your presentation is, it is tricky to hold the viewers’ attention. Including eye-catching factors, such as embedding a video in Google Slides, could make your slides extra gripping, interactive, and engage your viewers to keep them focused on your content. When used adroitly, Google Slides is an incredibly useful and free tool for creating impressive, enduring, and captivating slideshows.

Now that you know why and how videos can help your presentation, let’s show you several ways to embed a video on a Google Slide.

Steps to Embed a Video in Google Slides

From Youtube:

1. Go to slides.google.com and either create a new slideshow or open one you've already created.

2. In the top toolbar, click "Insert" and then choose "Video."

3. A window pops up that gives you the option to insert a video. In which you  would see three options:

-Search

-By URL

-Google Drive

4. Search allows you to find a video from YouTube. Start by typing the keywords or the title of the YouTube video you want to embed into the search field and click the magnifying glass icon or hit Enter. Among the search results, select the video you want to embed.

If you already have a YouTube URL, the By URL option lets you paste it to insert that specific video.

4. Your video is now embedded in your slide.

From Google Drive

Another option for embedding video into a Google Slides presentation is through Google Drive. This method may be ideal if you have a video already saved to your computer or device, but you don’t necessarily want to upload it to YouTube. Embedding directly from Google Drive also comes in handy if you already have your videos uploaded to your Drive account.

These are the simple steps you need to follow to add a video to your google slides:


1. Go to slides.google.com and either create a new slideshow or open one you've already created.

2. In the top toolbar, click "Insert" and then choose "Video."

3. A window pops up that gives you the options to insert a video. In which you would see three options:

Search

By URL

Google Drive

Click the Google Drive tab option when the Insert video window opens. Make sure that you'll need to have  saved the video to Google drive beforehand.


4. Choose between the My Drive, Shared Drives, Shared with Me, and Recent tab and find the file you want to upload.

5. Once the video is added to your Google Slides presentation, click and drag the file to position the video where you want it on the slide.
